Success Stories: 2 Years Developing Oaktree's Social Marketing!
Today we wanted to shine a spotlight on our work with our long-time client, Oaktree Garden Centre.
When Oaktree joined us they had a small social presence that was used as a customer service tool. Today, Oaktree has bloomed into a resource hub, social community, and an e-commerce powerhouse.
Community Marketing:
We took their Instagram from 200 people in March 2019 to over 5500 people organically. We have over 80,000 unique visitors to Pinterest a month, and even doubled their Facebook following in that time to over 6200 people. Over the past 18 months we ran successful marketing campaigns to promote their high-end garden furniture like Kettler, or incredible grills like Napoleon & Weber. Along with community campaigns such as ‘Design your dream Garden’ to promote products, services, and invite gardeners to visit Oaktree in-store to pick up new plants for their garden.
We’ve also written comprehensive blogs and social posts offering the Community free tips and tricks that they wouldn’t get anywhere else. This included growing guides, seasonal veg rotation, composting, garden furniture maintenance, BBQ recipes, and more!
Events & Influencer Campaigns
We have worked with Oaktree on some great events such as sales, In-store events, and their HUGE Christmas at Oaktree programme. Christmas at Oaktree sees thousands of people a year not only visit Santa, but have lunch with him! Last Christmas we promoted the event across social media and a bespoke email campaign that saw the event sell out! Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 Oaktree has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s event. Keep an eye out for Christmas 2021, we highly recommend it!
We have also worked with influencers to promote Oaktree’s incredible garden range, which helped hundreds of new people not only find Oaktree for the first time, but buy from them too! Some of these include comedian Joel Dommett and Chloe Ferry from Geordie Shore!
Our mindset has always been to think organically, thinking about community first. This was most present when we went into lockdown earlier this year. Once we knew Oaktree would have to close, our marketing team worked closely with the team at Oaktree to implant a zero-pound spend marketing campaign promoting Gardening Isolation packs. Over the course of two months, over 100 Isolation packs launched and were so popular Oaktree had to open a second line to deal with demand.
Over this period we also leveraged the community we built to run campaigns for new garden furniture, BBQs and more. One thing this has shown us is the importance of spending time on creating and building a community on social media. If we had not put in the hard work growing the community in 2019 we wouldn’t have been able to successfully launch a zero spend campaign, when many other businesses had to close.
Email Campaigns
Working with Oaktree has been a pleasure for us. We have also ran many email campaigns that has industry leading opening rates of over 35% (compared to Ind average of 10.17%) and tracked huge engagement across Marketing campaigns across social, PPC, Print and more.
